Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford, an American actor and singer. The first Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The Tony Award was given to her for the role of Essie Carmichael, in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford will be next seen alongside Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited Series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in the making for Searchlight Pictures' terror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen alongside Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre during the march 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will lead the production. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment proceeding in America in more than 100 years. In two seasons, Ashford was a star of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. The show was created by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin as well as Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. She has also performed on Broadway as a character in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde as well as the original character of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for the Tony Award.
